随着计算机辅助翻译(Computer-aided Translation,简称CAT)工具的广泛使用,计算机辅助翻译课程越来越受到关注,教学中突显的问题也成为研究热点。通过对57位英语专业高年级学生的问卷调查和案例分析,发现学生使用计算机辅助翻译工具存在以下问题:虽然多数学生能够较为熟练地操作软件,但对软件辅助翻译的功能利用不够充分。学生使用CAT软件翻译时常犯以下几种错误:术语翻译忽视已有译名,容易受自动翻译诱导而丧失自主判断能力,同义词辨别不清,句式结构还有待改进,语气、修辞等没有考虑读者认知习惯。因此,除了更新课程内容,计算机辅助翻译课程还要加强学生语言基本功训练和翻译技巧、策略的教学,培养学生的自主判断能力和翻译的读者意识,让学生在面对多种译法甚至错误译法的情况下,能够自主找到被读者接受的译文。因而,翻译工具能力、翻译判断能力和翻译转换能力都应该是计算机辅助翻译教学内容的重要组成部分。
Abstract:
With the prevalence of CAT tools in translation practice, CAT teaching has drawn more attention and the problems thereabout have become hot topics in CAT teaching research. Through analysis of a questionnaire and case study about 57 English learners, we found several prominent problems in CAT teaching worthy of our attention. First, most students could grasp the operation of CAT tools but have not used the tools to the fullest extent in translation and their level of satisfaction is not high; second, CAT tools need on-time updating and management to ensure the successful operation of teaching; when using CAT tools, students may commit the following mistakes: neglecting the established correspondents for terms, easily losing the ability of personal judgment when facing automatic translations, misuse of synonyms, improper construction of sentential structure, and not paying attention to readers’ cognition in transferring tone and rhetorical devices. Therefore, for CAT course, it is necessary to improve the management of CAT softwares, update the course content, and more importantly, to enhance the training of basic linguistic and translation skills, cultivate the ability of independent judgment and build a strong awareness of readers in translating. Therefore, students could find the proper word for readers when facing many choices or even the misleading choices. The translation competence in using translation tools, making proper decisions and adopting translation strategies should be the focus of CAT teaching.
