摘要:
以描述翻译学理论和方法为指导,充分利用林语堂的中英文著译作品,佐以其他中英文史料,比较系统地考察了林语堂英语译介《红楼梦》的具体历程,包括他早年与《红楼梦》的因缘、《吾国与吾民》《生活的艺术》对《红楼梦》的译介与《京华烟云》对《红楼梦》的模仿,以及他正式动笔英译、完成英译初稿、两次发表英译片段、两次向佐藤亮一寄赠英译打印稿的全过程。
Abstract:
Guided by Descriptive Translation Studies,and based on Lin Yutang’s Chinese and English works as well as some related historical materials,this paper makes a critical survey of the process of Lin Yutang’s translating Hung Lou Meng,including how he became interested in Hung Lou Meng,how he introduced it in My Country and My People and The Importance of Living,his imitation of Hung Lou Meng in Moment in Peking,how he began to translate the whole book into English,how he finished the first draft,his publishing some parts of his English translation,and his sending the printed version of his English translation to the Japanese translator Sato Shinichi.
