摘要:: 《新雪玫瑰颂：一段美味传奇》是加拿大总督文学奖得主余兆昌的获奖作品之一。“唐人街”与“新雪玫瑰颂”是其中关键的中国文化意象。余兆昌对“唐人街”现实主义的描写基于真实史料，意喻中国传统文化的迁移与传承；“新雪玫瑰颂”则意喻加拿大华人新女性，代表中国传统文化在加拿大的革新与发展。这部关于中国美食的儿童故事书是余兆昌对中国文化既内省又外省的审视。

Abstract:: Paul Yee, a Chinese-Canadian historian and writer, is the Winner of 1996 Governor General＇s Awards. Roses Sing on New Snow: A Delicious Tale is one of his award-winning works. Chinatown and Roses Sing on New Snow (a Chinese dish) are two prominent images throughout the whole story. Yee＇s realist depiction of Chinatown is based on historical reality in the mid-19th century. It is portrayed as a miniature of Chinese society, indicating the cultural inheritance of Chinese immigrants, whereas Roses Sing on New Snow symbolizes a new group of Chinese women in Canada and shows the evolution of Chinese culture. The well-flavored children＇s book about Chinese cuisine conveys Yee＇s careful examination of Chinese culture from both an external and internal viewpoint.
