Title:: Textual Research of Huang Ruliang’s Birth and Death Dates and His Zi and Hao

摘要:: 黄汝良是明末福建晋江安平镇（今安海镇）人，历仕近50年，官至礼部尚书，晚年高龄致仕后仍得到崇祯皇帝的慰问，著有《河干集》《乐律志》《野纪矇搜》《冰署笔谈》诸作，是晚明比较著名的政治和文化人物。然各家文献对其生卒年的著录颇为混乱，且有讹误。经考证，黄汝良生于嘉靖三十七年十二月初五日，即公元1559年1月12日，卒于顺治七年十二月初六日至二十九日之间，即公元1650年12月28日至1651年1月20日之间。黄汝良字明起，书“名起”“民起”者皆误，属于同音替代；书其字为“寓庸”者当为误黄汝亨之号而来。其号“毅庵”，题名“易庵”者仅见于《（乾隆）泉州府志》，疑有误；或为晚年之别号，然仅存孤证，当慎用。

Abstract:: Huang Ruliang was born in Anping Town (now Anhai Town),Jinjiang County,Fujian in the late Ming Dynasty.He was an official for nearly fifty years,with his highest official position being the Minister of Rites.In his old age after retirement,he still got the verbal care from Chongzhen emperor.He wrote The Hegan Collection,The Record of Music,Records of the Wild (Ye Ji Meng Sou) and The Writing in the Hanlin Academy（Bing Shu Bi Tan）.He is known as a relatively famous political and cultural figure of the late Ming Dynasty but the various documents on his birth and death dates are quite confusing and even erroneous.Through textual research,it is found that Huang was born on the fifth day of the twelfth month of the thirty-seventh year of Jiajing period,that is,January 12,1559,and that he died around the mid or late December of the seventh year of Shunzhi period,that is,the end of the year 1650 or the beginning of 1651.Huang’s Zi is明起,not名起or民起,the two errors caused by the similar sound;nor is it寓庸,which sounds like Huang’s Hao.His Hao is 毅庵,but易庵,found only in The Annals of (Qianlong) Quanzhou Prefecture,is suspected to be wrong or be another Hao in Huang’s later years,and therefore should be used with caution.
